Date cookies: Easy homemade treats to satisfy your sweet tooth

Date Cookies

Deliciously sweet and chewy date cookies are the perfect homemade treats for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup pitted dates
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a bowl, mix together the softened butter and brown sugar until creamy.
  3. Add the egg and vanilla extract, and mix until fully integrated.
  4. In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, stirring until combined.
  6. Fold in the chopped dates and walnuts.
  7. Drop spoonfuls of the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  9. Allow to cool before serving.

Notes

  • For an extra touch, sprinkle some sea salt on top of the cookies before baking.
  • These cookies can also be made with other dried fruits if you prefer.
