  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
  4. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, alternating with the heavy cream.
  7. Pour the batter into a prepared cake pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
  9. Allow to cool before removing from the pan.
  10. Top with sliced strawberries and serve with whipped cream.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, marinate the strawberries in a little sugar before using.
