A deliciously easy recipe for Txas Tamale Pie that will satisfy your weeknight dinner cravings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can diced tomatoes
  • 1 can black beans
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 packet tamale seasoning
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 2 cups water
  • 1 cup shredded cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large skillet, brown the ground beef with the chopped onion.
  3. Add the diced tomatoes, black beans, and tamale seasoning; stir to combine.
  4. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil and add cornmeal, stirring continuously until thickened.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer the beef mixture and top with the cornmeal.
  6. Bake for 30 minutes, then sprinkle cheese on top and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
